At the southern end of Kamala beach sits a traditional Buddhist temple, Wat Baan Kamala. Visitors are also welcome to this charming village temple but are reminded to dress respectfully as this is a holy place for many Thais. Also found at this end of the beach is the beginning of a road which is commonly referred to as ‘Millionaires’ mile’. Featuring many of the top luxury resorts and villas on the island, it has hands down, the most magnificent views overlooking the Andaman sea and is therefore no coincidence that villas of many celebrities can be found here.
Kamala’s beautiful fishing village runs parallel behind the beach path and it is here you will find some of the very best seafood on the island, as well as plenty of boutiques, spas and an abundance of tailors. There are also two every active local markets, one in the south of the village which takes place on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and the other in the north end which takes place every Monday and Friday. Both markets provide virtually everything you could look for, from electronics, clothing and local food to handcrafted items.

With both very traditional as well as high end chic to be discovered on Kamala Beach and its neighbouring village, the general vibe here is laid back and chill. You won’t get the crowds or noisy jet skis, simply the gentle sound of the waves, calming chill out beats from the beach clubs and on occasion, the mesmerising chants from the monks in the temple.
