Girls Getaway in Ko Samui: One week with your best mates.

If your planning to take off your your girlfriends for a week, nothing is better than heading off to tropical Ko Samui for a week of shopping, tanning, yoga, great massages, partying and perhaps some detox. Ko Samui is a perfect holiday for a group of best mates wanting nothing but fun in the sun and a bit of excitement. Following is a list of awesome things to do in Ko Samui that will keep the girls busy for a week.

Start the week off at Bo Phut

Bo Phut is a relaxed, chilled out beach area where you can launch the holiday by grabbing a spot on the beach and top up your tan. It’s far less hectic than other tourist hot spots such as Chaweng or Lamai so it’s a great place to get used to Thailand, it’s culture and of course the heat. If you are staying in Chaweng it’s a short taxi ride away but if you are staying in one of our fabulous villas (which is such a cool thing to do especially if you are going as a group to Samui) then it’s just a short stroll away. Drag yourself away from your luxurious private pool and take a dip in the warm tropical waters. It’s really worth it!

If your into snorkelling, SUP’ing or kayaking and checking out some spectacular marine life then the waters at Bo Phut are beautiful. You can easily rent equipment locally. If your feeling a bit more energetic then a good way to explore the area is by cycling around. You and your girlfriends can rent a push bike and go for it. Prices are around $10 for a day which is great value. From your bike you will get a good idea of the landscapes from exotic rubber plantations, glamorous Ko Samui coast line to local villages. This is for cycling buffs but if your the more laid back type you can always go for a local massage or a spot of yoga.

After an active day on the beach it’s time, as the sun sets and the evening cools down a bit, for some shopping at the local markets and a bite to eat at the buzzy and lively Fisherman’s Village night market. This is the real Asian experience where you can sample local delicious and very cheap Thai dishes a the street side stalls. There’s so much going on here with noisy vendors competing with each other for the tourist dollar. There are also heaps of shops here where you can find great souvenirs to take home as presents. Bargaining is OK here so be prepared to bargain on the price offered. It’s a fun night out where the girls can get allt heir shopping done and eat some fabulous food: great salads, satays, tom yum, a range of yummy curries…you name it, they have it…and it’s all so very cheap!

Time to move on to Big Buddha – Bangrak

Ok, the girls are really chilled out, relaxed, well fed and sun tanned. The last 2-3 days have  been perfect but it’s now time to move onto the next part of the holiday; the Big Buddha at Bangrak. Theres heaps going on here whether, your into cultural attractions, water sports or just relaxing by your lovely villa pool. Big Buddha is known for being very family friendly which makes this an ideal area for all age groups. The waters are really calm, the sand is pure white and this is where you can extend your holiday bliss by being as active or lazy as you like. Sip on fresh coconut juice, have a Thai massage, go for lunch by the beach at a local Samui restaurant, rent a motor scooter and do a bit of exploring, take the girls snorkelling or scuba diving; it’s all here waiting …just for you.

I know it seems repetitive doing the same things just at different part of the island, but that’s just  the way it is here on Samui. If you want more culture and want to see more temples, then Big Buddha is probably the best place to see them.  If you are prepared to walk around the Big Buddha gardens which takes about 60 min, you will see wonderful tropical well manicured gardens, plus there is another Buddha statue for that perfect selfie. It’s a peaceful, calming place with beautiful waterfalls, exotic Thai buildings and those ever present Koi fish. You’ll leave here in a state of pure zen.

Time to let your hair down and party hard at Chaweng

We have left this till last as this is the place where you can drink all night long and party really hard. Chaweng is the party area of Ko Samui and it has the highest concentration of bars and clubs than any other area on the island. Chaweng also has great beach where you can spend the day sun baking, people watching, eating food on the beach and basically hanging out with the other scores of tourists that invade Chaweng.

If your still up for some extra shopping then Chaweng has a number of markets ( Chaweng night market) where you can grab a sarong for less than $5. Hit the night market where your going to find so much on offer; from fake rip off sunnies, hand bags and Rolex watches, stubby holders (for those Aussies)  to t-shirts, skirts, basically anything and everything is here. This is the place you go to for your last minute shopping before heading back home.

If your not into the walking the many alley ways that make up Samui’s shopping heart and prefer some pre departure downtime then try the many day spas dotted all over the place. Here you will get full body massages, steam baths, body wraps, reflexology, hot stone massages and body exfoliation all at amazingly great prices. This is where you come to be pampered. If you want to go all out, why not have a private massage in your villa.

Now that you’ve done your shopping had your fully body massage and your feeling relaxed with tingling skin it’s party time. Start off with a few cocktails at the villa grab a taxi and head off to the outrageous party scene of Chaweng. Make sure you visit the infamous Green Mango and Ark Bar.
